It’s a tough time for small businesses and start ups in Ontario. Not only have federal tax rates sneaked up but now this.
Supply and demand usually leads decent full time employers to be paying employees at competitive levels already. New and existing businesses competing to get off the ground in our economic and tax environment will take another step back.
There are other ways to protect low income earners and families, many of these mechanisms already in place. This will simply close down more small retailers, restaurants and start ups or extend the already exhausted entrepreneurs hours.
It’s easy to have this philosophy when you can spend more than you take in as a government but small businesses in the real world don’t have that luxury.
